About the Enfield Choral Society
Enfield Choral Society, founded in 1938, developed in the early days a flair for performing diverse music ranging from choral works to concert productions of operas and operettas.
Today the choir's wide-ranging repertoire includes the great choral works, as well as lesser well-known pieces. We also set ourselves the challenge of usually singing the pieces in the original language in which they were written, hence in April 2007 we performed, successfully, Rachmaninov's All-Night Vigil (Vespers) in Russian!
The society has a membership of around sixty singers, which we are always looking to increase, especially in the tenor and bass sections. Although amateur in status it has gained a local reputation for giving performances of a high standard, often with professional soloists and ensembles.
